How to apply graduated symbology to a dataset in ArcGIS Online

  1. Add your dataset with continuous values you would like to map with graduated symbology to ArcGIS Online using the steps in this tutorial.

  2. Open the layer properties by clicking on the layer in the layer list, or clicking the ellipses dot symbol, and selecting Show properties.

  3. In the properties menu, select Edit layer style.

  4. Under Choose attributes select the field you would like to symbolize on the map.

    If you are following the census mapping tutorial series, select OwnerPct.

  5. Select Add.

  6. Choose a graduated symbology style of your choice.
